Every Possible Korok Puzzle in Tears of the Kingdom, Explained (2024)

Korok Seeds are incredibly useful resources in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. These plentiful collectibles let players increase Link's weapon inventory, allowing him to carry more bows, shields, and melee weapons. In the new Zelda title, there are 100 more Korok Seeds than in the game's predecessor, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. With a dizzying total of 1,000 Korok Seeds in Tears of the Kingdom, players can expect to stumble across a variety of Korok puzzle types.

These puzzles can be found in the Sky Islands and across Hyrule, but no Korok Seeds are found in The Depths or in shrines. Additionally, while there are 1,000 Korok seeds, there are only 800 Korok puzzle locations since one puzzle type grants players two Korok Seeds upon completion. Fully maxing out Link's inventory will take 421 Korok Seeds, so here's what players should look out for on their Korok-hunting journey.

Reuniting Stray Koroks

As Link travels through the various regions of Hyrule, he'll often encounter a lost and exhausted Korok weighed down by a comically oversized backpack. Reuniting the Korok with their friend grants players two Korok Seeds. Link can reunite the pair at the right location, indicated by a smoke signal, using horse-drawn wagons, Zonai devices, Ultrahand, or simply carrying the panicked cargo.

Rock, Stone, and Boulder Puzzles

Under the Lone Stone

Small rocks in unusual places often have Koroks hidden beneath them. Players can often find these rocks on the edges of cliff faces and on pieces of land surrounded by large bodies of water. Simply lift the stone to get the Korok Seed.

Under the Hidden Rocks

As mentioned in the above puzzle, sneaky Koroks can be found beneath out-of-place rocks. However, sometimes these rocks are concealed by a pile of leaves or layers of ice. To reveal the rock, Link must burn the pesky leaf piles or melt the ice, and then he can unveil a Korok.

Revealing the Slab-Concealed Rock

This puzzle is almost identical to the above puzzle, but it requires Link to remove a large stone slab to uncover a Korok-concealing rock. Once Link lifts the rock, he'll be rewarded with a Korok Seed.

Finish the Stone Pattern

As Link traverses Hyrule, he'll often encounter assortments of rocks in clear but unfinished patterns. If players come across rocks that look like circles, a series of lines, swirls, or other unnatural patterns, they'll need to complete the design using one or two nearby rocks. Link can carry the rock or use the Ultrahand ability to pop it in place.

Balance the Boulder on the Tree Stands

Finding a large boulder in unusual locations or deep holes in the ground may point to a nearby Korok Puzzle. A more direct hint is a tripod structure that looks like a small tree with a flat center between the branches. Use Ultrahand to maneuver the nearby boulder so that it fits snuggly within the structure.

Korok Flower Puzzles

Slash the Dandelion

When stumbling across a glowing dandelion in Hyrule, slash the flower to activate the puzzle. The flower will float down, and Link must take the cue to catch it before it reaches the ground. Since the dandelion respawns, players have ample opportunity to perfect their timing and receive the resulting Korok Seed.

The Yellow Flower Hunt

A common Korok puzzle is signaled by a lone yellow flower with a thick stem. These flowers are often in tall places, natural structures, and high up in Hyrule's mountain ranges. If Link touches the flower, it will vanish and reappear in a nearby area. This teleportation is accompanied by a subtle sound that can indicate in what direction and how far away the flower is from Link. This pattern will repeat multiple times until a white flower pops up. Interact with this white flower to reap the reward.

Dive Into the Water Lilies

When players come across a circular arrangement of water lilies in a pond or lake, they should make their way to a high point above the arrangement. Dive forward into the center of the water lilies to get the Korok Seed. If Link's dive doesn't trigger the Korok to appear, try diving from higher up.

Counting the Flowers

The final flower puzzles are multiple flowers scattered in distinct arrangements. Link must interact with the flowers in a specific order for the resulting Korok Seed, starting with the group with the least flowers and ending with the highest number of flowers.

Target Practice Korok Puzzles

Hanging Acorn Jar Target Practice

In Tears of the Kingdom, multiple Korok puzzles require aiming skills. If you see an acorn-like jar hanging from a building or bridge, simply shoot the item with an arrow to gain a Korok Seed. These puzzles are often found near abandoned houses.

Balloon Target Practice

Stepping over specific tree stumps triggers stationary or moving targets to appear in front of Link. Shoot each one down to acquire the Korok Seed, but don't step off the platform or the puzzle will reset. If the targets seem too far away, use a more long-distance bow or attach a monster wing to the arrow to make it travel further.

Pinwheel Target Practice

This puzzle is similar to the above puzzle, but approaching a pinwheel sets off the archery targets instead of stepping on a stump. To obtain the Korok Seed, shoot down all the targets.

Tree Stump Korok Puzzles

Tree Stump Ascension

If players come across tree stumps above them on the ceiling of structures or caves, use Ascend to get through the stump and get rewarded with a Korok Seed. These puzzles are easy to miss, but can be found in cave-like tunnels.

The Floor-is-lava Tree Stump Puzzle

Some tree stumps trigger another stump to spawn close by. If this happens, Link must get to the new stump without setting foot on the ground. Using the paraglider is the best approach for this puzzle.

Catch the Orb Going Down

This Sky Island-exclusive Korok puzzle involves stepping on a tree stump to generate a light orb to fall to the land below with some speed. Link must dive off the platform to catch the orb midair. Players will have to time this right by alternating between forward diving and using the paraglider.

Tree Stump Target Race

This timed challenge also involves stepping on a tree stump. Once on the stump, a yellow target ring appears, and Link must race to this slowly diminishing target before the time runs out to get the reward. Using speed-boosting elixirs and meals can help players beat tricky iterations of this puzzle.

Climbing the Tree Stumps

This puzzle usually appears in the Sky Islands with shrines and Zonai dispensers. It requires Link to climb flat tree stumps on walls, the sides of cliffs, and other structures. Ensure Link is centered on the stump to spawn a Korok and take care to manage his stamina to avoid falling.

Ultrahand Puzzles

Shelter Repair

Hyrule has a multitude of abandoned and destroyed buildings. Some damaged shelters have broken roofs with clear gaps. Link can repair these with Ultrahand by slotting in a nearby roof piece to obtain a Korok Seed.

Unplug the Cork

If players find a cork attached to a chain, they can use Ultrahand to pop the cork out. Alternatively, a heavy boulder or a rocket can generate enough force to unplug the cork and prompt the Korok to appear. These puzzles often appear in tree logs or in small ponds.

Complete the Block Puzzle

Another pattern-based puzzle, this task calls for Link to maneuver loose blocks (or a singular block) to complete a structure (or structures) built with blocks. These patterns are often symmetrical, but sometimes a replica puzzle hints at the structure's intended design.

Toll the Bell

When Link encounters bells around Hyrule, he should use Ultrahand to give them a ring and reveal a seed-bearing Korok. If a Korok doesn't spawn, try angling the bell higher to generate more swing.

Signs, Swirls, Sparkles, and Statues

Floating Leaf Swirls and Sparkles

When Link's exploring high places or scaling buildings, he might come across a bundle of leaf swirls and sparkles. Interact with these and Link will get a Korok Seed in return. Look out for these puzzles at the top of spires when scaling buildings.

Sparkle Chase

Some sparkling orbs move in a set route at a high speed. For this puzzle, Link will have to anticipate its movements and catch the sparkles so a Korok will appear. Using speed-boosting elixirs and meals will help give Link the push he needs for the more fast-paced sparkles.

Red Arrow Signposts

In some parts of Hyrule, Link will find red wooden signposts pointing in a specific direction. Find one or two nearby signposts to figure out the center point, where all the directional arrows converge. When Link is in the correct position, press the A button to spawn a Korok.

Ritual Offerings

This Korok puzzle's solution is similar to the Satori tree offerings in Tears of the Kingdom. When players find statues with bowls, they must provide the statues an offering. Usually, placing an apple will trigger a Korok, but some statues will require other food items, such as Mighty Bananas. If there are other statues in the vicinity, look at what's in their bowls for a hint.
