⭐ First Week at Zeal IT Consultants ⭐ As a student, you are always curious about working in a corporate environment and learning the nitty-gritty details about how things work.I had the same questions while joining Zeal, and towards the end of my first week, I realized that I would be getting insights into how corporate and business work way more than I'd expected.Diving into details, our first week here started with an introduction to understanding who a software consultant is and how they work. The key pieces that stuck with me were being a developer and communication, which make a great software consultant. You learn to deal with technology and people, which are currently the biggest driving forces of business. I learned the importance of providing business value, valuing differences of opinion, and selling to stakeholders. We also learned about the Agile Overview and had the opportunity to converse with Annette Weaver and Kamille Kelley, who spoke about agile project management and the Agile Manifesto. A few highlights from the conversation:1) Individuals and Interactions >> Process and tools2) customer collaboration >> contract negotiation3) working software >> comprehensive documentation 4) responding to change >> following a planThese run deep in projects and teams that follow the Agile manifestoIf you are interested in learning more about the Agile manifesto: https://lnkd.in/gb_jwPZX If you are interested in the 12 principles behind the Agile Manifesto:https://lnkd.in/gbMAhaCxWe also learned the terms project manager, product owner, scrum master, development team, and a lot more. It has been an eventful and insightful week, we also had guest sessions and read about The Mckinsey Way, will write my learnings in another post.#ZealInternLife #week1 #agileway #consultantlife #internbasics #grateful #learning

It was exhilarating to meet Prof Dr Simon Mak (profsmak)We had the incredible opportunity to hear about his life journey and learn many valuable lessons. Here are my key takeaways from the meeting:1) Embrace Your Calling Over Planning - Discover your calling and avoid overplanning to the extent that you miss out on opportunities.2) Default to "Yes" - Start with a "yes" mindset, then consider why it might be necessary to say "no."3) Live Beyond Your Imagination - Following your calling, you can experience a life beyond what you ever imagined.4) Dream Jobs Are Unpredictable - Your ideal job cannot be perfectly planned.5) Avoid High Risk with Low Reward - Never engage in actions that are high risk with low reward, and always steer clear of anything immoral or unethical.Thank you professor for such invaluable lessons and insights.#zealitconsultants #profmak #intern #loveyourfuture

✨ A conversation with David T. ✨ Since we started as interns, we always saw David around as "The Boss," someone who would greet us with a smile every time he walked past us, and of course the CEO at Zeal IT ConsultantsAlmost entering the last week of our first month here at Zeal, we finally had our session with David, and what a session!Well, it starts with him bringing us DONUTS! It was already going to be my favorite presentation. But what followed next was only sweeter. Unlike usual introductions where we go on about ourselves, he introduced all of us and spoke about where we come from and what we do. It was surprising how one man remembered all the details of the interns, who are almost considered at the lowest level in a food chain. He had no particular reason to, but he did. This circles back a lot to Zeal's core of valuing relationships and making people feel heard. Two key takeaways in the first 15 minutes:1) Take care of the people you love2) Keep in mind the sacrifices your previous generations have made for you to be where you are.We discussed Brené Brown's book Dare to Lead and the elements of trust she speaks about in the book:BRAVING - Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault, Integrity, Non - Judgement, Generosity. We shared stories of incidents and people who, at some point, helped us amalgamate these aspects into our lives. We also spoke about a summary of Stephen M. R. Covey's Speed of Trust and, more importantly, the framework of the anatomy of trust, which highlighted the importance of integrity, intent, capabilities, results, benevolence, practical applications, and building and repairing trust. Key takeaways after 25 minutes:1) People tell you who they are with their actions. 2) Trust is important. We also spoke about the success iceberg, and how it symbolizes and highlights everything that goes behind actually being successful. Here are a few topics to pick your brains on or just have a perspective on. Try linking it with a career or the business world:1) Owning something vs Renting something 2) Missionary vs Mercenary Final takeaway:1) Trust, Relationships, and kindness2) The currency of business — generosity We even focused on the ideas of entrepreneurship and leadership. We discussed some ideologies of Simon Sinek and the book The Tipping Point. This interactive discussion focusing on values, work, and life has been motivating and enriching to all of us. There's so much we all took away with us, after the end of 45 minutes. I am extremely grateful to have the opportunity to be a part of a program that instills not only knowledge but also lessons about being a good person. The books that we discussed:1) Dare to Lead by Brene Brown2) The Speed of Trust by Stephen Covey3) Leaders Eat Last by Simon Sinek4) The Tipping Point by Malcolm Gladwell #Zeal #corevalues #foundersmindset #bedauntless #kind #businessgenerous #Integrity #leadership

⭐ Week 2 at Zeal IT Consultants ⭐Exploring the intricacies of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) during my internship's second week has been enlightening! From understanding the diverse phases of the SDLC to identifying the key individuals involved at each stage and their respective responsibilities, the experience has been invaluable. Some key takeaways from the week:- **Discovery:** Involving Business Analysts, Project Managers, Stakeholders, Subject Matter Experts, and System Architects.- **Design:** Featuring UI/UX Designers, System Architects, Project Managers/Product Owners, and Technical Writers.- **Development:** Comprising Developers, Scrum Masters, Quality Assurance professionals, Team Leads, and Database Administrators.- **Deployment:** With DevOps, Release Managers, Site Reliability Engineers, Quality Assurance specialists, and Technical Writers at the helm.- It's important to note that roles may vary across phases and are often interchangeable.I also had this interesting read about implementing a low-code SDLC: https://lnkd.in/gUDUMTpRExploring this foundational aspect of IT consulting has been fascinating. For a deeper dive into SDLC, its phases, and various models, check out this insightful resource: [Software Development Life Cycle Overview](https://lnkd.in/gcnp7MsD).Remember, a crucial consultant skill is always meeting or exceeding client expectations. Excited to continue this learning journey! 🚀#ZealInternLife #week2 #SDLC #internbasics #grateful #learning #consultantintern #internlife #backtobasics

The networking workshop by Tech Allies presents Technology Ball. It was an incredibly insightful event: Career Power Play: Interview and Negotiation Mastery Workshop, which helped me sharpen my interview and negotiation skills. I had the opportunity to be interviewed by Cynthia Dixon in a mock interview; what a great experience! Thank you for giving me great suggestions and tips! I will use them for my following interview, without a doubtI'm grateful for the opportunity. #TechAllies #UTDMentorship#FutureTechLeaders

This spring has been particularly memorable for me as I had the opportunity to participate in The University of Texas at Dallas and Naveen Jindal School of Management, UT Dallas' Technology Ball Mentorship Program. Through STEM alliances, Technology Ball aims to develop future technology leaders. As a graduate student, I was fortunate to interact with seasoned business executives who took pleasure in coaching students toward achieving their professional objectives.Having a mentor at all levels is essential, as it’s like having your own career counselor. I was looking for opportunities to find mentors with whom I could converse regularly to guide me based on how I wanted to steer my career and my strategies. Fortunately, I was introduced to Tracy Mozena, CIO of Atlantic Aviation, as my mentor, who provided me with a great learning experience. She was accommodating about the qualities employers value in an applicant, guided me through the curriculum to help me pick electives that could help my goals, and assisted me in customizing my LinkedIn profile and resume. I was fortunate to meet her in person at the closing ceremony as a thank-you to the mentors. The Tech Ball program also had a prior networking event this semester, which I thoroughly enjoyed. The negotiation and one-to-one interview simulation were highly insightful; I had the chance to interact with Cynthia Dixon, my one-to-one interviewer in the simulation, with whom I had such a great, insightful time conversing!I look forward to staying connected and learning from you as well!I cannot thank Tracy Mozena, Assistant Dean Gaurav Shekhar, Larissa Paap, and Tricia Shevlin, MBA, enough for giving me this incredible opportunity to be part of this program. I eagerly look forward to having many more such discussions with my mentor and connecting with other STEM leaders.#TechnologyBall #JSOM #UTDallas #STEMLeadership
