Their motivations are simple, but reasonable. The villains are all just pure evil, who hunt for the weak. The story is great, I haven't read the novel, but it's definitely well-adapted, because the plot is perfectly understandable.The cinematography was amazing, there were a few amazing shots. The editing and the sound design were also a standout. I loved the music too, and the acting performances were obviously great.The only negative things about this film are that there are too many names mentioned, which cannot be remembered at once and the movie was too over the top sometimes.The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a well-directed movie with great music, acting and a very gripping plot. The direction is excellent with perfect framing and perfectly balancing dark/moody but never lifeless/dull. A true accomplishment many try but few succeed at especially to this level. It can be hard to follow at certain points because this is 2 stories going on at once for the same mystery but it just works very well. Everything else is exceptional. When Henri explains the setup it's just such a riveting and original setup that leads down a dark, sick, and truly original mystery. The originality combined with the direction come together to make up for the at times jumpy and complicated plot. It really doesn't feel as long as it is because your so invested and want to know where it leads next. Everyone should give this a try once.
